Statewide standing order
Unconfirmed[UNCONFIRMED]
Since Jan 1, 2026 IDPH is AUTHORIZED to issue a statewide standing order, but it is unconfirmed whether one has been issued. Schools are not covered by it in any case.
410 ILCS 27/10(a-1)
How to get it in Illinois
Two documents: a prescription in your organization's name, and a standing order saying when trained staff may use it.
- Everyone
- Illinois does not issue a statewide standing order, so a prescriber signs yours. Any physician can, and in most states a nurse practitioner or PA can too.
Then the devices
Buy standard auto-injectors through your usual pharmacy or medical supplier, which is what most organizations do.
